How to Set Up a Custom Cause Portfolio

Cause Portfolios are a great way to rally around a certain cause, community, or geographic area and serve as a one stop shop for users looking to support!

What are Cause Portfolios? -

Cause Portfolios are like mutual-funds for charitable giving. They allow you to donate to multiple charities at once, simplifying your giving experience and diversifying your impact, with funds evenly distributed to each charity in the portfolio. Many people want to give back but feel overwhelmed and have no idea where to start or who to donate to. Our Cause Portfolios address that issue by curating and vetting top-rated, high-impact organizations that you can give to with confidence.

Creating Your Own Cause Portfolios -

Percent Pledge customers can create a unique Cause Portfolio for their platform, inclusive of 3-6 nonprofits, representing key social impact partners for your company. Many companies select organizations that align with their company mission and brand while also representing employees' top causes. Other common use cases center around ERGs, cause holidays and awareness months, holiday giving campaigns, volunteer projects, and current events/crises that have impacted your company.

We suggest sticking with the same organizations once your Cause Portfolio is created, so please be intentional and do your research before deciding which to include. Any featured organizations must be a registered 501(c)3 or international equivalent.

When curating a Cause Portfolio, it's important to do your research and select transparent, high-impact organizations. We encourage you to use sites like Candid (formerly known as GuideStar) and Charity Navigator, and consider factors like diverse leadership, consistent reporting, and the ethics of their leaders.

Once your organizations have been selected, email your Social Impact Manager and provide the name, EIN/charity registration number, and website for each organization and they will create it on your behalf!
